Andy Wilson ~BT Contract Manager & Deputy Chair Armed Forces Network

Op Belonging is a vital initiative that seeks to improve the lives of Foreign and Commonwealth soldiers and officers after their service to King and country. To help, we can advocate for better support systems, raise awareness, and contribute to programs that assist these veterans and their families as they navigate civilian life. Together, we can honour their contributions and ensure they have the resources needed for a successful transition.

Andy Wilson began his distinguished military career in 1997 when he joined the British Army at the age of 16 as a soldier in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. With his dedication and skill, he excelled as a Regimental Specialist and Military Training Instructor before being selected to attend the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for officer training. In 2008, Andy was commissioned into the Adjutant General’s Corps, where he continued to serve with distinction. His final military assignment was as Regimental Second-in-Command at Worthy Down, before retiring from the Army in 2020. In 2021, Andy transitioned to the corporate world, joining BT as a Contract Manager. His leadership and commitment to veterans’ welfare were quickly recognised, and he was selected as the Co-Chair of BT’s Armed Forces Network, where he helped launch a pilot military recruitment program for service leavers. Andy’s impact at BT has also been recognised at the highest levels, being shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2024 and honoured as one of BT’s Employees of the Year for his innovation and dedication.

A dedicated charity fundraiser, Andy has raised over £15,000 for SSAFA, a military charity close to his heart. His incredible feats include climbing to Everest Camp 2, running the London Marathon, and completing the Keswick to Barrow Ultra Marathon. Passionate about giving back to the veteran community, Andy has focused on supporting Foreign and Commonwealth soldiers and officers, whose challenges after military service often go overlooked. As an Op Belonging Ambassador, Andy is committed to raising awareness and advocating for these service members, helping them receive the recognition and support they deserve.
